ECI Delegation Reviews Election Preparedness in Imphal

Imphal: A delegation from the Election Commission of India (ECI) on March 28 arrived in Imphal and assessed the state’s readiness for the upcoming General Elections. Led by Senior Deputy Election Commissioners Shri Dharmendra Sharma and Shri Nitesh Vyas, the delegation engaged with state officials, including Chief Electoral Officer Shri Pradeep Kumar Jha, and reviewed overall preparedness.
During discussions with Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, and other senior officers, assurances were made to ensure a level playing field and uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
The ECI delegation scrutinized the activities of various enforcement agencies, directing them to intensify efforts to curb illicit activities like cash, liquor, and drug trafficking. Emphasis was placed on coordination among agencies to maintain election integrity.
District Election Officers and Superintendents of Police from all 16 districts presented detailed plans for the elections, with a focus on facilitating voting for Internally Displaced People and adhering to electoral protocols. The ECI team also conducted field visits to assess preparedness on the ground in Imphal West and Kangpokpi districts.
