Manipur State Cabinet Announces Commencement of 5th Session of 12th Legislative Assembly and Approves Key Measures

Imphal:The State Cabinet has scheduled the 5th Session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly to commence on February 28, 2024. Minister Dr. S. Ranjan Singh, in a press conference at the residence of the Hon’ble Minister IPR, announced that the Governor's address will be discussed during this session, marking the first sitting of 2024.

Additionally, the Cabinet passed the Manipur State Commission for Women’s Rule 2024 and acknowledged the vital role of state forces and commandos, approving a monthly compensatory allowance of Rs. 5000 for Manipur commandos and Rs. 3000 for those serving in challenging areas.

The Name of Places Bill will be presented, and as per the Manipur Municipalities Act, the appointment of Health Officers, Engineers, or Revenue Officers for any panchayat will be handled by the Government. The Cabinet extended the engagement of VDFs for another year, from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. In response to the demise of SDPO, Moreh, the Cabinet approved appointing his son as an Assistant Sub-Inspector and granted liberalized pension from the Home Department.

The Cabinet also sanctioned Rs.18.91 crores for 3483 verified affected farmers, following thorough scrutiny by the Agriculture & Home Department. In a move to bolster the education sector, the State Cabinet approved the appointment of 742 staff (teachers) on a contractual basis through the Samagra Siksha Abhiyan after scrutiny by the Agriculture & Home Department.
