Imphal: In a show of oneness against the alleged bid to fracture Manipur‘s integrity by “Kuki Narco terrorists”, thousands of people came out in the streets and staged different forms of protests across the valley districts on Thursday afternoon.

Noticeably, the massive demonstration under the theme “ Save Manipur and Save India” was colorful as the protestors held tri colour as well as Salai Taret Firal (the seven-colored flag symbolizing the indigenous clans of Manipur).

Responding to the call of the People’s Alliance for Peace and Progressive Manipur (PAPPM) and other civil organizations of the state, the protestors, mostly women, formed long human chains, staged sit-ins and shouted slogans during the one hour protest from 2 to 3pm.

The protestors held placards , reading “Abrogate SoO Agreements with Kuki terrorists,” “Save India, Save Manipur,” and “Remove double standard Assam Rifles.”

PAPPM President Mayanglambam Bobby Meitei, emphasized that the demonstrations aimed to enlighten the nation about the root cause of the persistent ethnic conflict, framing it as an assault on India by Kuki Narco terrorists seeking to disintegrate the country.

The collective efforts of Manipur’s indigenous communities, including Meitei, Nagas and Meitei Pangal (Muslim) should focus on saving India and Manipur by exposing the alleged nefarious designs of the Kuki narco terrorists to disintegrate Manipur to create a Kukiland.

Meitei further revealed plans to continue the campaign using several means like a booklet campaign, jointly organized with other groups, to help expose the pre-planned strategies of the Kuki community to sustain the ongoing crisis.

Notably, the iconic women’s market in Imphal city became a focal point for vocal demonstrations, as a large congregation passionately expressed their concerns for unity and to save India by saving Manipur.

There, they, in unison, also shouted slogans “ Down down Kuki narco terrorists”, “We want peace”, “Go back double standard Assam Rifles,” even as the police had a hard time to control the traffic during the short protest period.

Similar protests were also held in different parts of the other valley districts – Bishnupur, Thoubal and Kakching.
