According to the Chief Secretary’s office, the Prime Minister will land at Churachandpur around 12:30 a.m., where he is scheduled to interact with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). He will also lay the foundation stone for several key infrastructure projects at Peace Ground in Churachandpur and address a public gathering. Later in the day, around 2:00 p.m., he will visit Kangla in Imphal to meet another group of IDPs and inaugurate multiple developmental projects.
The projects include foundation stones for works worth ₹7,344 crore, ranging from urban roads and drainage, health care in remote districts, working women’s hostels, school upgradation, solar power plants, and major highway expansions. Among them is the Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) Project aimed at creating IT infrastructure and employment opportunities across the state.
In addition, the Prime Minister will inaugurate projects worth ₹1,203 crore, including the new Manipur Bhawans at New Delhi and Kolkata, the Civil Secretariat at Mantripukhri, a new Police Headquarters, cultural and heritage parks, upgraded Ima markets, and key bridges and administrative infrastructure across districts.
Officials say these initiatives reflect the Centre’s “continued commitment and dedication for the development and welfare of the state.” The visit is also being closely watched as a political and symbolic gesture, nearly two and a half years after the violence that left deep scars on Manipur’s multi-ethnic fabric.
The government has appealed to the people of Manipur to welcome the Prime Minister and participate in the public events. Security across the state has been tightened in anticipation of the high-profile visit.
