Director Romi Meitei, who also serves as an Executive Board Member of MSFDS, has been a significant contributor to the growth of Manipuri cinema—both through his meaningful films and his continued guidance in shaping the Society’s policies and programs for the development of the state’s film sector.
Organized as part of a special initiative to promote cultural exchange and cinematic collaboration between the North Eastern States and Telangana, the festival will take place at Prasad Multiplex, Hyderabad, on 21 and 22 November 2025. Eikhoigi Yum will be showcased alongside select Telugu and North Eastern films that embody the festival’s theme, “Connecting Cultures, Creating Futures.”

The selection of Eikhoigi Yum acknowledges its cinematic excellence, cultural authenticity, and the film’s sensitive portrayal of Manipuri life and values. It also reflects the growing recognition of Manipuri cinema as a vital and creative force in Indian regional filmmaking.
The festival, being held under the patronage of the Hon’ble Governor of Telangana, aims to strengthen people-to-people connections through culture, creativity, and innovation.
The MSFDS extends heartfelt congratulations to filmmaker Romi Meitei for this recognition and views the selection of Eikhoigi Yum as a proud moment for Manipuri cinema and a reaffirmation of the Society’s ongoing commitment to nurture and promote the state’s rich cinematic tradition.
